BIE-3DT course overview
BIE-3DT
- delivered by members of 3Dprint Lab at FIT CTU
- this year for the first time in English ⇒ comments welcomed
- we are students, be nice to us ;)
- you will know the complete 3D printing workflow
- modeling → optimalization/correction → slicing → printing → post-processing
RepRap
- we use RepRap printers, because:
- open-source software
- open-source hardware
- we can afford them
- rapid development
- more on the topic later
Agenda
- tutorials – here in A1042
- building the printers – in the lab: A1051
- printing the courseworks – in the lab: A1051, during exam period
- see the full agenda at Tutorials
- presence is voluntary:
- not coming will not result to any punishment
- but you’ll loose the ability to get the points from that tutorial
Classification
- 20 points Homework in OpenSCAD
- 30 points Tasks in class
- 50 points Coursework
- as you can see, no exam, no tests
Tutorials
- follow the workflow of 3D printing
- modeling: OpenSCAD
- optimization a corrections: Meshlab, Blender and netfabb Basic
- slicing: Slic3r and KISSlicer
- printing: Pronterface from Printrun and/or OctoPrint
Building the 3D printer
- don’t know exactly how it will work for BIE-3DT yet
- depends on final number of students
- best way to know the printer
Homework
- Will check you ability to use OpenSCAD
- You will upload it to the Edux namespace
- Parametric design with strict interface
Coursework
- complex task
- follows the workflow of 3D printing
- you will actually need to print it:
- 50 % of your final evaluation
Programs installation
- see Apps and Tools
- do it as your first homework
- consult any problems next week
What if I don’t like it?
- If you don’t like something…
- tell us right away, so we can change it
